Shaklee Teams Up with Feed the Children and Anaheim Family YMCA to Provide Food, Essentials to 400 Local Families

Shaklee, a leading wellness company, Feed the Children, a leading nonprofit focused on alleviating childhood hunger, and Anaheim Family YMCA are teaming up to provide food, essentials, Shaklee product and additional items to 400 families from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at 1422 W. Broadway, Anaheim.

Each family, pre-identified by Anaheim Family YMCA will receive a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of essentials including soaps and self-care items and a gift bag from Shaklee containing nutritionally dense snack bars and meal shakes.

A recent report noted that 8.4% of Orange County residents are food insecure. This means more than 267,000 local residents worry about where their next meal will come from.

“Children cannot thrive unless their basic needs are met,” said Travis Arnold, president and CEO of Feed the Children. “A widespread issue like childhood hunger will only be solved when enough people work together. Partners like Shaklee are vital to our mission as we serve vulnerable communities.”

Price hikes at the grocery store have made food itself less affordable for lower-income families. Since 2021, food costs have risen by more than 14% according to the most recent Consumer Price Index report—the sharpest increase since 1981.

Roger Barnett, Chairman and CEO of Shaklee Corporation said, “our mission is to bring true wellness to the world, and we are very focused on providing access to high quality nutrition to all communities. Our partnership with Feed the Children allows us to help provide high quality nutrition to the one in eight children who suffer from food insecurity right here in the United States. Our entire Shaklee family is thrilled with the ability to make an impact in these communities.”
