how we fight hunger
We provide a variety of resources including food, school supplies, clean water, and household and hygiene essentials to help people thrive. We implement effective supplemental programs that focus on children’s needs to make a lasting impact and ensure success. And it all starts with food.
Hunger Relief
Children cannot grow and learn without enough food. This is the heart of what we do. We distribute food across the U.S. and through school resource rooms and backpack programs. Internationally, we feed kids in school, cultivate community gardens and offer nutrition training to create sustainable futures.
Nutrition and Health
Proper nutrition during childhood allows children to grow into healthy, thriving adults. Our work promotes health and nutrition education, provides access to essential healthcare services, and reduces malnutrition.
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
Every year, thousands of children internationally face disease caused by waterborne parasites and pathogens carried by unclean water. We work globally to expand access to safe drinking water while helping communities maintain adequate sanitation and proper hygiene practices.
Education
When children have enough to eat, they can flourish at school. Internationally, we help children stay in school by providing meals and school supplies. In the U.S., our Backpack & Go program and Food & Essentials Hubs offer food and supplies to students who need them.
Disaster Relief
When a natural disaster strikes, it creates a crisis on a large scale. Entire communities may find themselves suddenly in need of help, and we are ready. Feed the Children deploys supplies to help with the immediate needs caused by the disaster, and we deliver resources to help in the weeks to come as neighbors work towards recovery.
Livelihoods
Addressing the conditions that perpetuate poverty helps families focus on a bright future – a future without hunger. Our livelihood programs promote financial self-sufficiency for families and communities.
Our Work in the U.S.
With the help of donors and community partners, we’re able to reach children and families in almost all 50 states. In fiscal year 2023, we distributed more than 86.4 million pounds of food and household essentials to people in the U.S.
International Work
Feed the Children is proud to work in the United States and seven countries around the world (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, and the Philippines). Our work in these places focuses on food and nutrition access, with supplemental programs in health and clean water, education, and financial planning to provide sustainable solutions to hunger.
Stories of Impact
The greatest measure of the impact your donations to Feed the Children have doesn’t come from a report, a press release, or even our annual impact statement. Instead, it is found in the stories of those whose lives you have helped change.
