How Feed the Children Is Building a Movement to End Childhood Hunger Through Community

Oklahoma City, OK: When communities come together, change happens. Feed the Children, a global movement headquartered in Oklahoma City, is proving this every day through expanding community partnerships and volunteer engagement that help children and families overcome food insecurity across the United States and around the world.

A Collaborative Approach to Hunger Relief

Feed the Children believes that ending childhood hunger requires more than food distribution — it demands collaboration. Working alongside schools, community organizations, corporate partners, and dedicated volunteers, the organization provides food, essentials, educational support, and disaster response resources to help children and families thrive.

Through resource rallies, classroom support programs, volunteer initiatives, and community events, Feed the Children strengthens communities while addressing immediate needs. In 2025 alone, the organization supported more than 500 U.S. community partners.

“Ending childhood hunger takes all of us,” said Emily Callahan, president and CEO of Feed the Children. “Every volunteer, partner, educator, and supporter plays an important role in helping create a global movement for children and families. We are proud to work alongside communities in Oklahoma and beyond to help drive meaningful impact.”

The Scale of Childhood Hunger in America

The need for hunger relief has never been more urgent. According to the USDA, 47 million people, including 14 million children, experienced food insecurity in 2024, the highest level in nearly a decade. That’s roughly one out of every five kids in America facing uncertainty about their next meal.

Feed the Children remains focused on building collaborative solutions that combine immediate support with long-term community impact. Their work includes distributing nutritious food and essential items while strengthening partnerships that expand access to critical resources.

Volunteer Opportunities That Make a Difference

Feed the Children continues to grow its community engagement efforts, inviting supporters to participate through volunteering, advocacy, partnership, and awareness-building opportunities.

The organization’s Partner Market model in Oklahoma City gives select community partners access to a “grocery store” approach for receiving products, creating dignity and choice for families experiencing hunger and hardship.

Rooted in Oklahoma, Reaching the World

Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Feed the Children has served children and families for more than 45 years. Their reach extends to nearly every U.S. state and eight countries, where its programs benefited 14.9 million people last year.  Internationally, the organization implements Child-Focused Community Development programs addressing food and nutrition, health and water, education, and livelihoods.
