Education – U.S.

Feeding a hungry tummy is important. Feeding a hungry mind is just as important. That’s why your help is needed to provide nourishing food and school supplies for boys and girls who can’t afford these necessities. Join Feed the Children and commit to nourishing both the minds and bodies of children in need across America.

Backpacks that build hope

Feed the Children helps students stay in school by providing them with backpacks full of school supplies, personal care items and snacks.

People don’t function well when they’re hungry, and children struggle to learn when their stomach is growling. That’s why we must address the root causes of hunger before changing anything.

Children need a good education today to have hope for a better tomorrow. Going to school is one of the best ways to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.

You can make a difference in the life of one child when you provide a backpack filled with essentials.

Donate to provide a backpack.

Feed the Children has distributed over 700,000 backpacks to homeless children through H.E.L.P. (Homeless Education Literacy Program). In addition, Feed the Children provides school supplies, textbooks and personal care products to students across America.

Build backpacks in your community

A Backpack Build event is a fun way for your church, business, sports team or school to provide hands-on help for at-risk children. It’s easy to do and the backpacks you build will go to boys and girls right in your community. Just contact us to request the number of backpacks and supplies for your group (a $20 tax-deductible donation per backpack).

Equipping teachers to empower their students

Teachers know that without the right tools for learning, children face overwhelming odds. Because they are so passionate about helping children, many reach into their own pockets to provide educational materials for their students, but the costs can be staggering.

Feed the Children supports the teachers in our nation’s poorest schools by inviting them to shop for free classroom and school supplies at one of our three Teacher Stores. These stores benefit more than 347,000 students across the country during the school year.

“…it’s just like overwhelming. It’s amazing, the donations that have been given to us because this, you know, a lot of this stuff would come out of our pockets, so we’re just really excited and in awe of all the donations.”
