The Popeyes Foundation and Feed the Children have announced the launch of a national food tour dispersing meals and daily essentials worth a total estimated value of more than $1.75 million to 15 communities.

Families got a little help ahead of the new school year with a resource rally held in Moon. The Moon Area School District Resource Rally was held on the 300 block of Hemlock Drive on Thursday.

A nonprofit is helping to fill gaps through its “Summer Feed & Read” program, supplying Oklahoma families with nutritious food and engaging books during the summer months.

For more than four decades, the group Feed the Children has been working to help children and families across Oklahoma. Feed the Children plans to roll out a new program to help those in need.

Since the fires began on Jan. 7, more than 50,600 acres (79 square miles) have burned. More than 16,000 structures have been destroyed and more than 100,000 residents have been displaced.

Today, Feed the Children joins organizations around the world in observance of International Day of Education. The nonprofit recognizes that education is a human right, a public responsibility and the key to sustainable economic development.
