We believe that education is one of the best ways to help children escape the cycle of poverty. However, per-student funding for education has declined in recent years. In fact, according to recent survey data, the average educator spent $745 of their own money last year — without reimbursement — on school supplies for students who can’t afford them.
To address this problem, Feed the Children’s Teacher Store has offered free school and classroom supplies since 2010 to educators working in some of America’s most challenged school districts. With five locations in Arizona, Indiana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Tennessee, our Teacher Store provides classroom basics like paper, pens, binders, crayons and other materials along with children’s books and snacks to enhance kids’ learning and help them succeed.
In fiscal year 2022, Feed the Children hosted 12,176 teacher visits and provided more than $3.8 million in classroom supplies as well as books valued at more than $5.3 million to benefit an estimated 873,000 students across 234 school districts.
