Rhea's Spicy Cheese Grits

Spicy Cheese Grits

Hi, I'm Rhea. Cheese Grits are new to me in the last several years, since meeting my now husband. My father-in-law has made this dish for my husband's family since he was a boy. Now that we're married we tradeoff for the holidays. No matter where we are on Thanksgiving it makes my husband feel at home if we have cheese grits. So, I've grown to love and cherish this dish as a family tradition that will be passed on to our kids (who love it)!

Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups of quick grits
  • 6 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • 1 tbs of seasoned salt
  • 1.5 tsp garlic salt
  • 12 shots of Louisiana hot sauce
  • (1/4 cup) 1 lb. of Velveta cubed
Directions

Add in butter, season salt, garlic salt, hot sauce, and cheese. Stir until cheese is melted. Pour into 9X13 pan. Bake for 1 hour.

About Feed the Children

At Feed the Children, we feed hungry kids. We envision a world where no child goes to bed hungry. In the U.S. and internationally, we are dedicated to helping families and communities achieve stable lives and to reducing the need for help tomorrow, while providing food and resources to help them today. We distribute product donations from corporate donors to local community partners, we provide support for teachers and students, and we mobilize resources quickly to aid recovery efforts when natural disasters strike. Internationally, we manage child-focused community development programs in 8 countries. We welcome partnerships because we know our work would not be possible without collaborative relationships.
