Yamaha is partnering with Feed the Children and Friendly Center to bring No Hunger Holidays to 400 Cypress families during the season of giving. The event will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at Yamaha Motor Corporation, 6555 Katella Ave.
Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food; a 15-pound box of essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion and personal-care items, a box of Avon, and Disney books as a special gift for children this holiday season.
“We are honored to be able to provide consistent and much-needed support for such an organization as Feed the Children; that in 20 years, has truly become part of our Yamaha ‘family’,” said Bob Starr, Corporate Communications Manager. “And we look forward to many more years of support both corporately and through affiliate organizations such as Star Touring and Riding that will continue to feed those so less fortunate!”
The No Hunger Holidays campaign helps children and families during the holidays, as well as bring awareness to the important issue of childhood hunger. With more than 5 percent of Cypress residents living below the poverty line, holidays can be a stressful time for families. It can be especially difficult once school is out for the holidays, leaving children food insecure - without a source for consistent meals.
“We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, especially during a time full of warmth, love and sharing,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO. “But the reality is, millions of children face this hardship every day. Thanks to our generous partners at Yamaha, we are able to help these families rest a little easier knowing they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from this holiday season.”
Yamaha has worked with Feed the Children for nearly 20 years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and feeding tens of thousands of children.
