Yamaha U.S. and its subsidiary Yamaha Financial Services, (YMFUS), is partnering with Feed the Children and Turner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church to bring No Hunger Holidays to 400 Marietta families during the season of giving. The event will be held Thursday, Dec. 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Turner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 492 North Marietta Pkwy. NE, Marietta.
Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food; a 15-pound box of essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion and personal-care items, additional products and Disney books as a special gift for children this holiday season.
“Our entire team of employees at Yamaha Motor U.S. and Yamaha Financial Services could not be more happy in helping to facilitate two simultaneous food donations based out of 3 of our Corporate Facilities located on both the east and west coasts of the county. The past 20 months since the onset of COVID-19, has been so challenging for so many families throughout the country and as such we are humbled to help our neighbors of ours close by both our California and Atlanta facilities that are so less fortunate,” said Bob Starr, Corporate Communications Manager for Yamaha Motor Corp. “Our long-term and gratifying relationship with Feed the Children ensures that the needed food and hygiene is going to those most in need and this year we are especially happy to have two events occur simultaneously.”
As the holiday season approaches, too many people – including more than 14% of Marietta residents living below the poverty line – find themselves exhausted and without essential resources. 2021 has been a difficult year for our most vulnerable children and families who have faced widespread hardship and uncertainty because of the pandemic’s far-reaching effects. In the U.S., nearly 1 in 6 children is now estimated to be food insecure.
Feed the Children, a leading nonprofit focused on alleviating childhood hunger, is holding its annual No Hunger Holidays campaign to help children, parents and caregivers fill the gap during this challenging time. The organization plans to deliver two million meals in November and December to families who need them.
“We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, especially during a time full of warmth, love and sharing,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO. “But the reality is, millions of children face this hardship every day. Thanks to our generous partners at Yamaha, we are able to help these families rest a little easier knowing they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from this holiday season.”
Yamaha has worked with Feed the Children for more than 20 years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and feeding tens of thousands of children.
