Feed the Children and Nature Made® are partnering to feed and assist 400 families as part of No Hunger Holidays. The families will gather at Webster Middle School (6708 S Santa Fe Ave.) on Thursday, Dec. 5 from noon to 2 p.m.
Each participating family will receive a 25-pound box of shelf-stable food such as canned vegetables, peanut butter and mac ‘n cheese a 15-pound box of essentials including items such as shampoo, razors and toothpaste, Earth's Best TenderCare® Diapers, Nature Made children’s multivitamins and additional products. The provided food and essentials will help families in need of basic materials most people take for granted.
The No Hunger Holidays campaign helps children and families during the holidays, as well as bring awareness to the important issue of childhood hunger. With more than 17 percent of Oklahoma City residents living below the poverty line, holidays can be a stressful time for families. It can be especially difficult once school is out for the holidays, leaving children food insecure - without a source for consistent meals.
“We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, especially during a time full of warmth, love and sharing,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO. “But the reality is, millions of children face this hardship every day. Thanks to our generous partners at Frito-Lay, we are able to help these families rest a little easier knowing they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from this holiday season.”
