Feed the Children, a leading hunger relief organization and Herbalife Nutrition (HLF), a premier nutrition company are partnering to serve 200 families in the underserved South Los Angeles community of Willowbrook. The food and personal hygiene items donation are part of the Feed in A.C.T.I.O.N. (Assisting Communities Together In Our Nation) program Products will be delivered to A Community of Friends at 9 a.m. on #GivingTuesday, May 5.

A Community of Friends, an organization that is part of Feed the Children’s national network of valued community partners, seeks to end homelessness through the provision of quality, permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness.

Each participating family will receive a 25-pound box of shelf-stable food such as canned vegetables, peanut butter and mac ‘n cheese; a 15-pound box of essentials including items such as toilet paper, razors and toothpaste; an A.C.T.I.O.N. box filled with children’s items and backpacks filled with school supplies, and Herbalife Nutrition Protein Bites shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

The organizations partnered earlier this year for a nine-week nutrition program which provided after-school health and wellness activities, as well as meals each school day to 200 students in the South Los Angeles area.

“Through our ongoing partnership with Feed the Children, we are proud to extend our reach in our own backyard by sharing good nutrition and education to the next generation,” said Alan Hoffman, executive vice president, Global Corporate Affairs, Herbalife Nutrition.

In Los Angeles, 19.1 percent of residents live below the poverty line and many of these families struggle with food insecurity. Unfortunately, this is a trend that stretches across America with nearly one out of every seven Americans having incomes below the poverty level.

“Feed the Children is proud to partner with Herbalife Nutrition to address the important issue of childhood hunger. The problem cannot be tackled alone. We know that when we combine our efforts, we will have a greater impact on the lives of families who need us most,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO.

This effort is part Herbalife Nutrition’s larger Nutrition for Zero Hunger campaign that aims to provide resources to help reduce the number of people affected by hunger. It is through collaborative partnerships, such as this one with Feed the Children, that Herbalife Nutrition’s initiative to improve nutrition including access, education and awareness will be implemented.

About Feed the Children

At Feed the Children, we feed hungry kids. We envision a world where no child goes to bed hungry. In the U.S. and internationally, we are dedicated to helping families and communities achieve stable lives and to reducing the need for help tomorrow, while providing food and resources to help them today. We distribute product donations from corporate donors to local community partners, we provide support for teachers and students, and we mobilize resources quickly to aid recovery efforts when natural disasters strike. Internationally, we manage child-focused community development programs in 8 countries. We welcome partnerships because we know our work would not be possible without collaborative relationships.
