Crystal Farms® is partnering with Feed the Children to provide 400 Minneapolis-area families with food and essentials. The event kicks off at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 at the Jerry Gamble Boys and Girls Club, 2410 Irving Ave. N.
The families have been pre-identified based on need by the Boys and Girls Club Twin Cities. Each participating family will receive a 25-pound box of shelf-stable food such as canned vegetables, peanut butter and mac ‘n cheese; a 15-pound box of essentials including items such as shampoo, razors and toothpaste; and additional products from Crystal Farms including Nibblers and Little Nibblers. The provided food and essentials will help families in need of basic materials most people take for granted.
“With one in five meals taking place out of the home, parents struggle to find snacks that are portable, convenient, nutritious and delicious. The solutions that currently exist are either loaded with sugar or lack nutritional value,” said Katie Egan, director of marketing at Crystal Farms.”
In Minneapolis alone, more than 20 percent of families live below the poverty line and far too many children go to bed hungry. Households experiencing food insecurity can face uncertainty about how they can afford to keep food on the table and difficult decisions about how to provide their basic needs.
“Feed the Children is proud to partner with Crystal Farms to help create a world where no child goes to bed hungry,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO. “We know that when we combine our efforts, we will have a greater impact on the lives of families who need us most—right here in America. Together, we can help provide children and families with the essentials they need to flourish and break the cycle of poverty.”
