Collins Engineers, Inc. is partnering with The Salvation Army-Kroc Center Chicago and Feed the Children, a leading nonprofit organization focused on alleviating childhood hunger, to bring No Hunger Holidays to 400 Chicago area families during the COVID-19 crisis. This event will provide families with much-needed food and essentials Fri., Dec. 18.
Each family will receive a 25-pound box of shelf-stable food such as canned green beans and pasta; a 10-pound box of daily essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion and personal-care items; an assortment of children’s books; and toys. This year will surely be the hungriest holiday season on record as the effects of COVID-19 continue to reverberate through our most vulnerable communities. In Chicago alone, more than 18% of the population lives below the poverty line, a number that has no doubt skyrocked due to the economic downturn. The items provided aim to bring relief to those who are struggling now.
“We are proud to partner with Feed the Children to give back to those struggling within our community,” said Daniel Cecchi, President of Collins Engineers, Inc. “The holiday season is really hard for families this year and they need all the help they can get. We want to make sure our neighbors get the food and resources needed to fill their plates and brighten their spirits.
No Hunger Holidays is a campaign designed by Feed the Children to feed families during the holidays, as well as bring awareness to the important issue of childhood hunger. This year’s unparalleled economic suffering will affect the most vulnerable families the most severely as temperatures drop this winter. Feed the Children is working with many corporate and community partners, volunteers and donors to make sure families receive much-needed food and daily essentials just in time for the holiday season.
“Feed the Children is proud to partner with Collins Engineers, Inc. and The Salvation Army-Kroc Center Chicago to help parents and caregivers who are struggling to feed their families,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO. “We know that when we combine our efforts, we have a greater impact on the lives of families who need us most.”
