You can make a difference for hungry children by starting a Special Project fundraiser. Here are examples of how different people across the country have started their own special project.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA

Feed The Children has long been Yamaha’s National Charity. We appreciate both the corporation’s support and that of their employees. Recently, Yamaha had a Feed The Children sponsored truck come to Cypress, CA. STAR Touring & Riding members were invited to attend the festivities. Yamaha hosted a Pancake Breakfast for all participating in the Food Distribution and a check was presented to FTC on behalf of Yamaha employees’ yearlong Dress Down Friday Project. A parade with STAR Touring members and the Feed The Children semi-truck traveled to Calvary Chapel, the site of the food distribution to 400 Orange County families. It was a great day and many families were blessed because of Yamaha’s involvement.

Ben & Terry Cummings' Lemonade Stand

Ben & Terry Cummings' Lemonade Stand

Ben (9) & Terry (6) Cummings wanted to do a service project... something to help the hungry and homeless children. They went through all their toys, books and many household items. They made signs, set up a lemonade stand and sold cold lemonade on a rather chilly day. They raised $100 doing their special project and learned a valuable lesson... that their actions COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Star Touring and Riding Chapter 165 Special Project

Star Touring and Riding Chapter 165 Special Project

Star Touring and Riding Chapter 165, Delaware, recently had their end of year banquet. Everyone attending brought a Holiday Shoebox gift. KidsStuff USA is a shoebox project through Feed The Children and the shoeboxes are distributed through partner agencies here in the USA. Sue said the members and children had a ball. She said she had the chance to explain to her 5 year old granddaughter why these boxes were made. It was hard for her granddaughter to understand how children just like her do not have Christmas. "Believe me, it was a special moment for her and for me," said Sue.

This is the spirit that runs strongly through many of our wonderful donors and Star Touring & Riding Association has many wonderful members. See how easy it is to brighten the lives of children through the simple activity of filling and decorating a Shoe Box Gift.

Each of 200+ attendees brought a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Feed The Children, to be distributed to local children living in extreme poverty. Special thanks to Ed & Helen Glendinning for spearheading this event for 16 years and for helping make Christmas merry for so many children in need!

Star Touring Chapter 169 Project

Star Touring Chapter 426 Project

For the second year in a row, Star Touring Chapter 169 is raising funds to sponsor an entire Feed The Children semi-truck filled with food and other essentials for impoverished families in Rio Grande Valley, TX. With only nine members, Star Touring Chapter 169 proves that small groups can do big things to help hurting and hungry families!

The group works tirelessly throughout the year on various fundraising projects, and then uses the funds to deliver food & other essentials to those in need in their community.

Star Touring Chapter 426 Project

Star Touring Chapter 426 Project

Star Touring Chapter 426 of Killeen, TX recently had a series of garage sales at which a youth motorcycle was raffled; the motorcycle was donated by Killeen TX Motor Sports. They set up stands all over Bell and Coryell Counties.

All the Texas chapters have their fundraisers and then turn in their monies raised at the Texas StarBQ which is held in Nacogdoches, TX, this year on June 20 & 21. The StarBQ is a regional gathering of Star Touring Members from throughout the region at which they have various biking activities. On June 21, they will have a food distribution with a Feed The Children semi loaded with non-perishable food, personal hygiene product, and 2 extra pallets of toys and books.

The FTC partner agency in Nacogdoches is Love Inc and they are responsible for locating the 400 families who will be recipients of the truckload of product. Because of chapters like #426 in Killeen, TX, a minimum of 2 FTC trucks each year are sponsored in Texas by Star Touring & Riding members.

Kaboodle Kids

Kaboodle Kids

The owners of Kaboodle Kids believe that while corporate responsibility is important, individuals collectively giving out of gratitude can accomplish much more than we, on our own, could ever hope for. "Having a heart for African children, I liked the fact that FTC worked in Africa, where our clothes are manufactured and for which we feel a particular interest. FTC's goals are likewise aligned with our hearts and I liked the fact that I could target my contributions to the Abandoned Baby Center in Kenya". www.kaboodlekids.com

School Raises $605 for Children

School Raises $605 for Children

Student leaders at the Crown School for Law and Journalism celebrated Black History month with a special project called "Have a Heart for Kenyan Children."

The K-8 students donated their allowances to help Kenyan children, and each participant received a heart with his or her donation amount to hang on their classroom door.

Because of their enthusiasm, and commitment from advisor Donna Barclay, the students were able to send the Abandoned Baby Center $324 and the Dagoretti Children's Center $281.

That's more than enough to sponsor three newborns at the ABC Center for a year and one child at Dagoretti, a school for disabled children, for a year.

Blue Eye Middle School Dances for ABC

Blue Eye Middle School Dances for ABC

Students at Blue Eye Middle School in Blue Eye, Missouri were studying African culture and looking for a way to help children in Africa. They planned to close out the school year and the study with a Ngoma performance by the 5th and 6th graders (ngoma means drumming and dancing in Swahili).

Over 400 people attended the event which featured dance, poetry and drumming and the sale of homemade tie-dye T-shirts and jewelry. The students donated 100% of the proceeds and hoped to raise $500 for the Abandoned Baby Center. They exceeded this goal by raising $870!

"This project really shows how philanthropy and giving can be incorporated into [school] curriculum," said Debbie Dopp, project coordinator.

Hiking Club Has Unique Mission

Hiking Club Has Unique Mission

Thanks to Cyndi Connelly and her hiking club in Scottsdale, AZ, the community there is becoming more aware of the need for international hunger relief. Cyndi decided to take action after reading some startling statistics: 11 million children die each year from lack of food. Because she also wanted to make a difference in curbing childhood obesity in this country, she developed a project which would help hungry international children and encourage American kids to be physically fit. Through her program, Shifting the Weight, she teaches children about hiking safety and holds weekly hikes. Because each hiker donates $10, Cyndi has already raised $325 for Feed The Children. "Through this project, kids are able to shift the weight to those who truly need it," said Connelly. Do you have a club or small group who'd like to help feed hungry children?
