About Feed The Children
Feed The Children was founded in 1979 with the mission of providing hope and resources for those without life’s essentials. Since then, we’ve grown into one of the largest international charities based in the United States. Feed The Children is accredited by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance and has a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.
We hold to Christian values, and place great importance on integrity, resourcefulness, stewardship, and transparency. Our employees are dedicated to making Feed The Children a worthy recipient of donations and putting them to the most efficient use possible.
Everything we do at Feed The Children — here in the U.S., or in the 23 countries we serve around the world — is mindful of our vision that no child or family goes to bed hungry.

What We Do
Feed The Children’s domestic programs provide disaster and emergency assistance to people in need. In fiscal year 2013, the organization distributed 98 million pounds of food and supplies with a total value of $215 million to over 10 million individuals in the U.S. Feed The Children is also active in education, distributing backpacks to homeless children and offering free books and supplies to educators through its Teacher Stores.
Around the world, Feed The Children provides nourishing meals every school day to more than 350,000 children. In fiscal year 2013, the organization distributed over $129 million in food, medicine, and other essentials to children in 23 countries around world. The international programs, including child sponsorships, meet the immediate needs of children while also addressing the root causes of poverty through education and livelihood development.
Food and Necessities
Here in the U.S., we partner with nearly 1,200 agencies — including food pantries, churches, and soup kitchens — to distribute meals and necessities to more than 10 million people nationwide.
In 2013, Feed The Children’s domestic food distribution program provided more than 98 million pounds of food and essentials to over 10 million individuals — both children and families — who were at risk of running out of food.
In addition, we helped more than 150,000 families through our Americans Feeding Americans caravan, which provides each family a box of food, a box of essentials, and gifts from Avon.
Feed The Children has an extensive transportation fleet that picks up in-kind contributions from corporate warehouses and brings them to our Feed The Children regional distribution centers.
Feed The Children’s H.E.L.P. (Homeless Education Literacy Program) supplies backpacks filled with ready-to-eat meals, toothbrushes, school supplies, and age-appropriate books to homeless students enrolled in public schools with the hope of providing a sense of normalcy for children.
Since the program’s launch, we’ve distributed over 700,000 backpacks, including 65,000 in 2013. Another half-a-million children receive school supplies or children’s books each year through education-focused projects.
Feed The Children offers free books and supplies to educators in our Teacher Stores located in Oklahoma, Indiana, and Tennessee. In 2013, we hosted 14,000 teacher visits and gave away nearly $7 million in teaching tools, benefiting more than 347,000 students in 681 schools across 89 school districts.
Feed The Children responds quickly to disasters thanks to our extensive partner agencies and transportation fleet. Along with more than 50 of our partners, we responded to the 2013 Oklahoma tornadoes with nearly 250 shipments of food and supplies, weighing more than 2.6 million pounds and valued at $8.5 million.

Providing Clean Water
We also work to provide clean water to communities around the world. In 2013, we installed more than 80 water wells and systems, bathroom facilities, and other clean water sources in 16 of the 23 international countries we serve. These water projects benefited 179,000 children and families.
