Last Month at the ABC
What's happening at the ABC

On May 23, 2013, the Abandoned Baby Centre (ABC) in Kenya opened their doors to a new bundle of joy. According to the Feed The Children office in Dagoretti District, the child’s mother entered a shop and asked the vendor to hold the baby while she visited the ladies’ room. She never came back for him.

When it became clear that the mother was not returning, the shop vendor took the baby to the local police station and reported the situation. The police contacted the Dagoretti district children’s office, where staff began the process of admitting the boy to the Abandoned Baby Center.

At the ABC clinic, medical staff examined the baby and determined that he was approximately 4 days old. They named him Alvin and placed him in Cottage Number One where he will receive intensive nutrition support, medical attention, child care, and social protection. In the meantime, the police are searching for baby Alvin’s mother or another relative.
