400 Families to Receive Food and Essentials

ABINGDON, Va. (Nov. 23, 2011) – On Wednesday, Nov. 30, Feed The Children, in partnership with Speedway Children’s Charities and Bristol Motor Speedway, will deliver a truckload of food and essentials to the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group and United Way of Russell and Washington Counties. The distribution will begin at 4 p.m. at 26460 Newbanks Rd. (Morgan-McClure Motorsports Headquarters). This is part of a nationwide effort by Feed The Children and Speedway Children’s Charities to help families in need.

 

Washington County Long Term Recovery Group and United Way of Russell and Washington Counties have pre-identified the 400 families who will receive a 25-pound box of food, a 10-pound box of personal care items and a box of Avon products.  The items distributed are designed to help a family of four for a week.

 

A very special thank you is extended to Morgan McClure Motorsports for providing the facility and equipment for distribution to the families

 

This year, Feed The Children and Speedway Children’s Charities will deliver an estimated 500,000 pounds of food and supplies to those in need on behalf of Bristol Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Infineon Raceway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. In all, Feed The Children’s distributions in partnership with Speedway Children’s Charities will reach 10,000 families.
