BAPTIST TEMPLE AND FEED THE CHILDREN
400 FAMILIES TO RECEIVE FOOD AND ESSENTIALS DURING ANNUAL THANKSGIVING OUTREACH
MCALLEN, Texas (Nov. 14, 2011) – On Thursday, Nov. 17, Feed The Children will deliver a semi tractor-trailer full of food and essentials to Baptist Temple at 2001 Trenton Road. The food and essentials will be distributed to families beginning at 3 p.m. during their annual Thanksgiving outreach.
This distribution is sponsored by Baptist Temple. They have also identified the recipient families. Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food and a 10-pound box of personal care items. The boxes are designed to help a family of four, for up to one week.
More than one in three children (36.1 percent) living in McAllen is considered impoverished. The number of children living in poverty in Texas (1,751,189) could fill McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium more than 120 times.
“We are so thankful to Baptist Temple for helping to provide the food and essentials to students and their families,” said Tony Sellars, spokesperson for Feed The Children. "We hope more people will respond to help us put more trucks on the road and provide assistance for fellow Americans who are suffering through the current economic downturn.”
