Falcons Team to Help Distribute Boxes to Families in Need

ATLANTA (Nov. 11, 2011) – Feed The Children will bring a semi tractor-trailer full of food and essentials to Atlanta on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The distribution will begin at 11 a.m. at Brook Run Park (4770 N. Peachtree Road). The Atlanta Falcons Rookie Club sponsored by UnitedHealthcare of Georgia and Freddie Falcon are scheduled to attend and help distribute food and essentials.

Feed The Children partner agency, Operation Homefront Georgia, has identified the recipient military families. Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food, a 10-pound box of essentials and a box of Avon products. The items are designed to help a family for up to one week.

The distribution is part of Feed The Children’s Americans Feeding Americans Caravan, which has helped more than 305,000 families across the country since it began in 2009.

More than one in three children living in Atlanta (33.6 percent) is considered impoverished. The number of children living in poverty in Georgia (1,727,475) could fill the Georgia Dome more than 24 times.

“We are so thankful to Operation Homefront Georgia and the Atlanta Falcons organization for helping to provide the food and essentials to our military service men and woman and their families,” said Tony Sellars, spokesperson for Feed The Children. “Let’s not forget that those who protect our country have families that need extra help. We appreciate all of the partner organizations participating for the work they do to help these families who sacrifice for our freedom.”
