Students at Imagine Tomorrow Computer Classes collect teddy bears for children in South East Asia

Local school's efforts will reach out to children orphaned by the tsunami

Imagine Tomorrow collects teddy bears for tsunami orphansChester, N.J. The students at Imagine Tomorrow have collected more than 1,000 new teddy bears for children in South East Asia, especially those orphaned because of the devastating tsunami that hit the area on Dec. 26, 2004. The bears will be donated to Feed The Children for use in ongoing relief efforts by the international charity.

“We are so grateful to the students at Imagine School for reaching out in such a loving way to the children affected by this terrible tragedy,” said Larry Jones, president and founder of Feed The Children. “It is always amazing when I see children here in the United States do something to help the children in other countries - that is one of the truest examples of compassion in action.”

Jennifer Hypes and Karil Kirchner, teachers at Imagine Tomorrow Computer Classes in Chester, state that the response to this project has been tremendous. “We never expected such overwhelming support and caring from the community,” said Kirchner. Students from all three of the company-owned centers all participated, as well as families in the surrounding areas of Chester, Madison, and Ridgewood, New Jersey. One Imagine Tomorrow student even brought in 'dog bones' to help feed the stuffed animals, because, she said “they have a long flight and I don't want them to get hungry!”

Imagine Tomorrow Computer Classes, founded by Judy Patterson, provides a unique learning experience, incorporating the latest technology with an early childhood curriculum. The company has custom software, curriculum, and classes developmentally-designed for young learners. Besides enhancing computer and academic skills, children learn to respect each other and the world we live in. Patterson applauds Kirchner for initiating the project to help the children of the Tsunami. “We also want to thank everyone in the communities who participated,” explains Patterson.
