Partnership aims to defeat hunger around the world through Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon & ½ Marathon taking place the weekend of January 23-25, 2015
New Orleans, LA, – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and Feed the Children, an organization working to end childhood hunger, today announced a new partnership as the official benefiting charity of the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon & ½ Marathon. The 2015 event will take place the weekend of January 23-25.
“We are delighted to collaborate with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and their New Orleans event,” said Kevin Hagan, Feed the Children president and CEO. “Partnerships like the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans are key to helping our organization reach new audiences to defeat childhood hunger.”
Feed the Children works to create a world where no child goes to bed hungry, distributing more than $344 million worth of food, essentials, education supplies, and medicine to more than 10 million individuals last year alone. Through Team Feed the Children, runners can dedicate their event training and race participation to make a lasting change in the lives of children in the New Orleans community.
“Through this agreement our goal is to help Feed the Children expand its reach around the U.S. and internationally to defeat child hunger,” said Dave Hussa, Vice President of Charity Partnerships. “The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series prides itself on partnerships that promote our vision of a healthy, fit world and that’s something which certainly cannot be accomplished when childhood hunger remains pervasive in America.”
Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans is an enjoyable experience for race participants and spectators featuring live, local bands playing at every mile along the course to energize the runners. The event begins in downtown New Orleans on Poydras Street, showcasing a course that traverses beautiful St. Charles Avenue, the historic French Quarter, Esplanade Avenue and iconic City Park. The event finishes on Roosevelt Mall behind the New Orleans Museum of Art, where the finish line festival takes place.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Series is known for placing entertainment stages along the race course, lining the route with hundreds of local cheerleaders and then topping the experience off with a finish line concert celebration for all participants. The musically-themed races have spearheaded an active lifestyle movement that provides a unique entertainment outlet for people from all walks of life.
Over the 17-year history of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, charity participants have raised more than $300 million for a variety of worthy causes and nonprofit organizations. For more information on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, visit RunRocknRoll.com or follow @RunRocknRoll on Twitter.
