Coastal Business Group and Feed the Children Fight to End Hunger

IRVINE, Calif, – Coastal Business Group teamed up with Feed the Children to lend a hand to Irvine-area families Sat., July 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. That’s when a Feed the Children semitruck full of food and essentials was distributed to a total of 400 families at Families Forward (8 Thomas).

Because hunger can’t be tackled alone, Feed the Children’s partner agency, Families Forward, pre-identified 400 families in need who each received a 25-pound food box; a 10-pound box of basic essentials like shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and personal-care items; and a box of assorted Avon products.

Mothers of the families also received an opportunity to meet with a Susan G. Komen for the Cure employee and schedule a free appointment for a mammogram. Volunteers from Coastal Business Group and some of their partners were on-site to help distribute these items to the families.

The event is one of many that Feed the Children has planned across the country. In Irvine alone, 12 percent of families are living below the poverty line. Often, these children are unsure where they will find their next meal.
